Microsoft said that Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S may now download updates in energy-saving mode as part of new sustainability efforts.

The Xbox will take longer to restart after being switched "off" in energy conservation mode, but it will consume around twenty times less power than instant-on mode.

While those of us who own an Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X will need to modify our power settings as a result of this news, Microsoft has said that future consoles will now default to energy saver mode.

Go to Settings > General > Sleep mode & startup and toggle Sleep mode to Energy saving to adjust your power strategy.

It's also possible that you'll need to check for updates by going to Settings > System > Updates.

By 2030, Xbox wants to be carbon negative, water positive, and waste free. In the same timeframe, the business intends to design all goods and packaging in some countries to be 100 percent recyclable. Xbox controllers are already being made from recyclable plastics.
