Do not visit Russia due to the unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces, the potential for harassment of Americans by Russian government security personnel, the potential for American citizens there to be singled out for detention by Russian government security personnel, the arbitrary application of local laws, the limited number of flights into and out of Russia, the Embassy's limited ability to help Americans in Russia, and COVID-19-related issues. Citizens of the United States who are now in Russia should leave the country right away. Due to unjustified detentions, use extra vigilance.
