Will robotic avatars replace the need to travel in 2020?

Will robotic avatars replace the need to travel in 2020? As in completely replace it? I am referring to those which ANA is developing (ANA robotics competition).

I doubt it. Robotic technology doesn't seem very advanced right now. Certainly not like in the movies!

yeah, I say we're a good 100 years from robots taking over anything, by then we should be ready to welcome our new robot overlords.

I don't think it will be a robot "take over" where they decide to kill us or whatever, but more of a merging of organic and synthetic. Maybe something like the Borg.
