With a quick Google search, you’re able to pull up a minimum of 12 different variations on the headline “Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the game we need right now” from around the time of the game’s launch in March. Those headlines are, of course, correct.

New Horizons’ timing was a perfect, tragic accident. In March, as the COVID-19 pandemic reached North America and Europe, many of us entertained illusions that the disease that as of this writing has killed 1.7 million people globally would arrive, irritate, and then pass by summer or, at worst, autumn.

This is obviously the correct choice. Even if it's nothing more than dollhouse, and there's little gameplay to be had, it's what was keeping people going during the worst of quarantine. Every day my wife and her friends would get together and text chat each other while pretending to have picnics on each others islands.

This is obviously the correct choice. Even if it's nothing more than dollhouse, and there's little gameplay to be had, it's what was keeping people going during the worst of quarantine. The game has so much to it, perfect time waster. Not the most in depth game, but it’s just flat out fun.
