Newspaper articles called Toronto "the raccoon capital of the world." The raccoons really walk on the streets, around houses and they get into garbage bins. Raccoons get used to the city and they are like urban animals. Raccoons are smart, curious and agile. Frequently, they break into a house to live there. Especially, they would go into some kind of abandoned construction zones.

You could find raccoons in the basement, crawl space, living room, inside walls of the house, on the ceiling and in the chimney.

Raccoons are the largest of their family, Procyonidae, which consists of medium-sized mammals native to the Americas. This family includes coatis, kinkajous, olingos, olinguitos, ringtails and cacomistles. However, the raccoon is the only member found in Canada. Raccoons are stocky. They measure about 60-95 cm long.
