Building your own gaming laptop comes with several unique advantages, including:

  1. Customization: You have complete control over every component, from the CPU and GPU to the RAM and storage, allowing you to create a laptop that perfectly fits your gaming needs and preferences.
  2. Performance: By selecting high-quality parts, you can optimize performance specifically for the games you play, avoiding the limitations that come with pre-built systems.
  3. Upgrade Flexibility: Unlike pre-built laptops, which often have limited upgrade options, a custom-built gaming laptop allows you to swap out or upgrade components over time, keeping your system up to date without needing a full replacement.
  4. Cost Efficiency: Building your own gaming laptop can be more cost-effective than buying a pre-made one. You can prioritize which parts to invest in and potentially save money by avoiding unnecessary features.
  5. Learning Experience: The process of building your own laptop helps you gain a deeper understanding of how hardware works together, which can be useful for troubleshooting and future upgrades.
  6. Pride and Satisfaction: There’s a certain satisfaction in knowing that your gaming rig is entirely your creation, built from the ground up with your own preferences in mind.
Building your own gaming laptop can be a rewarding experience that combines high performance, customization, and long-term value!

Building a gaming laptop gives us control over the space it occupies but it is not recommended as laptops are meant to be used a lap device for normal work, when we are at remote locations. Gaming consumes more power and produces more heat and the chances of damage to peripherals is more in long run.

It's always good to build a gaming pc with good cooling system for the long run and it even costs less as the peripherals size must not be confined to fit as like in laptop with less space.

GDP ( a company in Hong Kong ) has already begun the future of portable gaming. They have made portable GPU that are true portable. The Laptop today is really is just

CPU ( with fans and other heating moving features )
Memory/RAM
Connection to the external GPU,
Clock Bat

Only reason why you need an internal GPU is for some reason you need to move around and be portable. Forget about modern gaming, I mean yes we have GTX 4070 ( 4080 ) inside these machines but even that is outdated.

It is like the Apple M series. Nobody cares about the computer. We all know it is an array of ARM processors with some other parts. Outside of that is the memory, and other parts that
could be replaced. Apple literally could take the M series and make it a portable insert me
into a dock.

A dock for phone
A dock for desktop
A dock for laptop.

All we need is a dedicated Intel processor. Even funnier. The Vmware version of MacOS ( last to be released ) is able to run GPU in DirectX 12 mode. Via developers additional software???? We all know what that means.

This means in terms of having the "Ultimate setup" would be

1. Any late Apple M series MacOS setup.
2. Memory maxxed out
3. GPU
4. Vmware with Direct X 12 support active.

We would not even need an official Intel machine at this point in the game, and it would be energy efficient

I just gave away the purrrrfect system
