San Diego isn’t doing so hot, what with it being overrun with criminals. Fortunately, you can clean it up with your bat in Street Cleaner: The Video Game.

I’m not sure what all of these folks have done to be deserving of Jack Slade’s judgement, but seeing that this is an homage to 80’s action movies, we’re not supposed to think about it that much. They’re all just terrible people who we should thump with our baseball bat and shoot with our fancy gun. Except doesn’t this also make us a criminal, what with all of the bludgeoning and murdering? Are these people, therefore, just in trying to take us down right back? Who is the real villain here?

Street Cleaner

Anyway, your job is to beat crime to death in the streets, using your fancy bat to clobber everyone wandering the streets of this dreary city. If you think you might not be up for the task, the game offers an Assist Mode that will adjust weapons, health, play speed, jumps, and more to help you get through it. You’re here for an action-based good time, so the developers are more than happy to let you decide what that means. You can also make it far harder if that’s what you’re looking for. This is your (debatable) crime-stopping spree, so you may as well enjoy it however you want.

Street Cleaner: The Video Game revels in the outlandish violence and action of 80’s games and movies, so if you just feel the need to take a bat to some bad people, it’ll take good care of you. Although maybe the true criminal turned out to be inside us all along.
