Should Contra be made into an FPS game?

Contra has recently made into the new modern graphics. But it was not made FPS. It continued to remain as scrolling action game. And it reminds me of the retro time. But what if the contra remake is done as FPS like say Counter Strike type retaining the levels of it's own but just the perspective camera view being FPS?

Do you think it'd make it popular?
