PS5 won't support native 1440p resolution

PS5 will not support native 1440p resolution, Sony has confirmed.

Sony revealed that the PS5 will work on 1440p displays but will either downscale from a 4K output or upscale from a 1080p one. Seemingly, PS5 is following in the footsteps of the PS4, even though a number of PS4 games actually run at that midpoint resolution.

Sony’s next-gen PS5 console can output at a maximum of 8K, or more realistically, 4K and 120FPS (frames-per-second) on HDMI 2.1-complaint devices.

PS5 heads to retail stores on 12 November.

Not really an issue for me. I'm just looking forward to playing the games in 4K

Might be a dumb question, but is 1440p that big of a deal? Is it for monitors, because I play on a TV. Never played a game at 1440p.
