Overwatch crossplay is now in its beta phase, Activision Blizzard has declared.

Crossplay will become available on all platforms when its rolled out, meaning players will be able to play with and against one another.

Those who wish to take advantage of crossplay will require a Battle.net account, with players tasked to link their PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo account(s) with it. Players will also be required to link accounts regardless of their intention to participate in crossplay.

Activision Blizzard has promised a free Golden Loot Box as a thank for those who link their accounts.

Crossplay won’t be fully supported in competitive game modes, with PC players split out from console.

Overwatch is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Switch and Windows PC.

Sucks you need a battle net account, but hopefully it is worth it for the service.

Crossplay is always good for any game. Hopefully, you can disable it for certain platforms though. It's better to play with other console gamers and avoid the PC ones.

I can't see why console players would ever want crossplay with PC it just seems like it would be lopsided
