It was last month when Oculus revealed that their next iteration in VR gaming would take a two-way approach. The first, a revision of the original headset which has been titled the Rift S with a standalone headset called the Quest also being launched. Our friends over at Gamespot have detailed all the specifications of the devices here and each device will come along with a $400 price if you're considering opening up your wallet. Oculus has also announced that both devices will also launch at the same time on Monday 21 with pre-orders for both the Rift and Quest already open as well.

The new Rift S looks to make several improvements over the original Oculus Rift, which has been out since early 2016.The Rift S first off comes with an increased resolution, displaying 1280x1440 per eye, 2560x1440 in total, although it now displays in 80Hz as opposed to the 90Hz in the previous model. Another great addition is the integrated audio on the headset is now much more comfortable and comes with a more secure head strap. Great to stop those moments where it may fall off.

The biggest feature, however, is the company's new inside-out tracking technology called Oculus Insight. This negates the need for external motion sensors since there are five built into the headset, capable of full positional tracking.

The Rift S will remain a PC based platform but the Oculus Quest comes with everything you'll ever desire all packaged into one unit. The standalone VR headset is powered by a rather punchy Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The Quest also features Oculus Insight, with four built-in sensors to offer full positional, six degree-of-freedom tracking. It'll pack an impressive 2880x1600 resolution but at a lower 72Hz. Two options for storage space will be available: 64GB at $400 and 128GB at $500. A pair of revised Touch controllers will also come with each device.
