Minecraft ray-tracing beta will start this week, developer Mojang has announced in partnership with Nvidia.

The beta for Minecraft with RTX or ray-tracing will be available from April 16 on Windows PC.

Those in Minecraft with standard materials only have two properties; colour and opacity, where as those in Minecraft with RTX will have six colour, opacity, height, roughness, light emission and metallic.

To take part in the Minecraft with RTX beta, you’ll need to download the Xbox Insider Hub on your PC. No beta end date has been disclosed yet.

I freaked out of how real the effects were. I got hold of it as it was launched and to my surprise it really is a great addition to the game. Although, I still feel that few things like shadows/lighting etc need a bit more work and hope Nvidia will be looking over them but all together now it really feels like a transformation.
