Is Elden Ring part of Dark Souls?

Although Elden Ring was clearly influenced by FromSoftware's Dark Souls series, the game is set in an entirely unique setting and has a wealth of elements that aren't seen in any of the company's other popular series. However, this does not mean that there are not more differences than there are similarities across the games.
