Gearbox has allegedly underpaid its staff for their Borderlands 3 bonuses, a report from Kotaku suggests.
Six anonymous employees spoke with Kotaku about Gearbox promising six-figure bonuses following the launch of the highly successful Borderlands 3. The bonus payments were a 60/40 sharing agreement that balances out the company’s below-average salaries.
Gearbox told Kotaku that since its profit sharing arrangement began:

In the most recent pay period Gearbox talent enjoyed news that Borderlands 3, having earned revenue exceeding the largest investment ever made by the company into a single video game, had officially become a profitable video game and the talent at Gearbox that participates in the royalty bonus system has now earned their first royalty bonus on that profit.
Borderlands 3 is available on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC.Additionally, a forecast update was given to the talent at Gearbox that participates in the royalty bonus to set expectations for the coming quarters.
