During the Japanese Nintendo Direct mini, Bandai Namco announced that they are releasing Namcot Collection in June 2020 for Nintendo Switch.

“Namcot” is the brand name that Namco used when developing home console games early on, when their main market was still in creating arcade titles. Early games on the Famicom were ports of arcade titles, and some of the games that are included on Namcot Collection include Youkai Douchuuki, Wagan Land, Family Jockey, and Star Luster are seen during the short video segment.

Additionally, Mendel Palace (known in Japan as Quinty) is also getting ported for the first time to new hardware. For those who don’t know, Mendel Palace was the first game developed by Satoshi Tajiri’s then-fledgling company Game Freak, who would later create Pokemon.

Here are other games that have been noticed and are likely included:

  • PAC-MAN
  • Galaga
  • Tower of Druaga
  • Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti
  • Dragon Spirit
Here’s the Namcot Collection segment below:

I'm excited for this! I hope this will include Dig Dug, Glaxian and Pole Position, too!
