Speaking during a virtual Fan Festival this weekend, Hashimoto announced that his successor would be Final Fantasy VI, VII and VIII director Yoshinori Kitase.

Shinji Hashimoto will not be leaving Square Enix, but will “continue to assist in various ways,” he said (via Famitsu).

Hashimoto has long overseen the business and marketing aspects of the Square Enix RPG series, as well as serving as an executive officer and head of the company’s business division 3.

I hope the new person does a good job, the FF series needs a lot of love to keep going.
