Ex WWE 2K developer Yuke’s is working on an AEW console-based wrestling game, joining two other titles planned for mobile.
AEW (All Elite Wrestling) was founded in 2019 and showcased in a two-hour weekly broadcast called AEW Dynamite on US' TNT network. The promotion stars Chris Jericho, Jungle Boy, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes and more. The game from Yuke’s will be joined by mobile games from developers KamaGames and Crystallized Games.
Kenny Omega, EVP of AEW, said:
Every once in a while, a revolutionary company comes along and changes everything. AEW is doing that today. When I first signed with AEW, I asked Tony Khan to let me help assemble the best gaming team on the planet, to make the best wrestling games ever. With masterminds like Geta and the incredible team at Yuke’s, we are well on the path to deliver a fresh, vastly superior gaming experience that our fans deserve.
Hiromi Furuta, SVP at Yuke’s, added:
It is a tremendous honor to be a part of writing the first page in a new history of wrestling games.
While the console title will likely be similar in presentation and style as WWE titles developed by Yuke’s, KamaGames will offer up a gambling title on mobile in the form of AEW Casino: Double or Nothing; Crystallized Games will add a simulator to mobile devices with AEW Elite GM.
AEW has not announced release dates, nor platforms, for any of the upcoming titles. The title from Yuke’s is being developed for “current and next-gen consoles”.
WWE 2K19 was the last in the franchise from Yuke’s.
