As if needing more proof that FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is one of the most anticipated games of 2022, the upcoming title just became the most-wishlisted game on Steam.

Fans were looking forward to this game for a number of reasons, not least because of the participation of renowned fantasy writer George RR Martin.

The game will be following Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice as the next release from FromSoftware

Elden Ring will follow Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice as the next release from prestigious Japanese studio FromSoftware.

Games from this popular developer are known to be very difficult and esoteric.

Unclear, abstract stories are also common in FromSoftware releases, which makes it all the more interesting that George R. R. Martin, author of the best-selling series – A Song of Ice and Fire, is credited with developing the world of Elden Ring.

Another thing that sets Elden Ring apart from previous FromSoftware games is its open world scene, which contrasts sharply with the iconic and intertwined world designs of Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

The graphics are also proving more impressive than ever, with studio director Hidetaka Miyazaki noting that the 2020 Demon’s Souls remake motivates a greater focus on visual fidelity.

Elden Ring knocked Dying Light 2: Stay Human off the top spot on the list

The enormous hype for this game is perfectly illustrated by the fact that it now ranks first as the most-wishlisted game on Steam, as reported by Eurogamer.

With that said, FromSoftware’s upcoming game takes Dying Light 2: Stay Human off the top of the list – a position it has held for twelve months in a row.

These two games were followed by other long-awaited releases such as Hollow Knight: Silksong and the 2018 PC version of God of War.

While this news is sure to please anyone working at the Elden Ring, it’s likely that very few people will describe it as a surprise.

There’s always a lot of hype behind every game from FromSoftware. And the scary Elden Ring is no different.

In fact, it might surprise more people that it took a long time for the game to rank first.

In short

This news is also an indication of the rapid popularity of FromSoftware since the release of Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls.

In a video game market dominated by casual, easy-to-digest games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone, it’s impressive that FromSoftware has managed to make room for intense, scary, thought-provoking titles in mass gaming.

Elden Ring is supposed to be a unique experience, but fans will have to wait until next month to see how FromSoftware’s foray into the open world of gaming will eventually develop.

Elden Ring will be released on February 25 for Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
