EA has pulled out of GDC 2020 over coronavirus concerns, EA has confirmed.

The coronavirus has struck again, causing Kojima Productions to pull out of GDC and cancellations of Overwatch League matches in South Korea.

Erik Ortman at DICE announced EA’s cancellation in a statement.

Unfortunately news just came down that EA will not be attending GDC due to Coronavirus concerns, meaning I won’t get the opportunity to give my talk or meet some of you. Hopefully a new chance next year!
EA confirmed it would be skipping GDC this year.

Having closely followed the global situation with coronavirus and with the recent escalation of cases in new regions, we have decided to take additional steps to protect the well-being of our employees including the restriction of all non-essential travel
As a result we are also cancelling our official participation at GDC and limiting attendance to other events. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will adjust guidelines to our employees as we feel is appropriate.
The coronavirus has already affected Nintendo Switch stocks, the Switch release of The Outer Worlds, the Taipei Game Show, Square Enix PAX East plans, Sony's PAX East plans, Kojima Productions at GDC and Overwatch League match.

Seems only fair at this point to cancel the whole GDC event, everyone seems to be pulling out.

Corona virus is virtually destroying releases of new product and the stock markets dropping. It sucks but it's life bad things happen and more events will probably be cancelled as well.
