Do you think Smite will be able to compete with other MOBA games?

We all know that LoL, Dota 2 and HoS are the top dogs in the MOBA fight, but what about Smite? It's concept is great, and I love playing the game as it feels more fun than LoL and the others, but somehow it is losing players. When I went back to play it after a break of 6 months, no one was there, it took me a long time to get into a match...
Does anyone here play it? Do you think it might make a comeback?
