Update: The Demon’s Souls listing on the PlayStation website has been updated to confirm the game will run in either “4K Mode (play in 4K resolution) [or] High Frame Rate Mode (play with a higher targeted frame rate),” though unclear as to what resolution will be offered for the latter option.
Original story: Demon’s Souls runs at 1440p, 60 frames-per-second (FPS) on PS5, a new report suggests.
Tech outlet, Digital Foundry reports that the game’s most recent PS5 Showcase gameplay only hits 1440p and 60FPS, though a 4K, 30FPS mode could be offered for those who prefer resolution over framerate. No comment has yet been made by Sony or developer Bluepoint about the visual performance.
Due to the complexity and challenges that the Souls games offers and the original Demon’s Souls laid groundwork, we’d assume most players would prefer a higher framerate over resolution. That said, are you pleased with 60FPS and 1440p, or were you expecting more from a PS5 launch title. Let us know below!
Demon’s Souls heads to PS5 on launch day, November 12.
