The spicy ESRB rating published today for Cyberpunk 2077 included a mention of “in-game purchases” which may have raised some eyebrows.

Considering that CD Projekt RED always expressed a firm stance against microtransactions in the game, the mention certainly sounds off, so Twinfinite reached out to the studio directly to seek clarification on the issue.

A CD Projekt RED representative explained that the “in-game purchases” descriptor is now required for games that may receive expansions in the future.

Since we already know that the game will receive expansions after its launch, as mentioned in the latest investor conference call, this solves the mystery.

CD Projekt RED is planning a reveal event in June, so it’s likely that we’ll see more about the game then.

If you want to learn more about Cyberpunk 2077, you can enjoy additional information from the results presentation released a few weeks ago, some more recent comments from CD Projekt RED’s executives, the latest gameplay, additional comments from the developers, and enjoy some really high-definition character images.

Recently, we saw the reveal of a Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One X and an Xbox controller.

You can also read our semi-recent interview with producer Richard Borzymowski, how character creation can impact the story, and every way V can kill someone.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and it has recently been delayed to September 17, 2020. It has also been confirmed for Xbox Series X down the line.
