Are some games too easy?

I mean, the first Mario Bros from the 80s can be finished by an adult in 1 hour - maybe 3 at the most. Of course, with the max number that might be exaggerating!

It depends on the genre and the target audience, I think. You can't please everyone, but games tend to have a primary demographic that they're trying to target. I wouldn't put Bloodborne-level difficulty in a game that's mostly geared towards younger kids or older folks who might just be looking for something casual and relaxing to play in their off-time.

But if you're trying to cater to hardcore gamers who expect the grind, there is definitely such a thing as too easy. This is especially true in a world with the internet providing tips for playthroughs and other means to speed up the game in case you get stuck.

I guess it depends on the person playing. Sucks to be me because I don't remember if I actually finished Mario Bros on my Game Boy. :ROFLMAO:

I guess it really depends, but sometimes I do think that some games are significantly easier now. You challenge kids these days to play Super Mario World and they fail miserably! That's one of the main reasons why I really enjoyed playing Cuphead, that game was actually challenging.

There are games I played when a bit younger and today, I find them mildly difficult. I guess it depends on which phase of life a person is.

I agree that Mario is an easy game but this game is one of the best because it marked the begging of online gaming for me. An easy game for me is Roblox, too easy for me I usually end a map in 20 minutes.

there's a lot of them especially from less-known productions, i've played some games and stoped in the middle of it cuz it just feels pointless, if there is no difficulty there is no adrenaline, then there is no fun, but it could be that i'm just too good of a player hhh JK.

I think that video games have gotten progressively more difficult. It makes sense, technology has advanced a lot since the '80s.

Yes Mario Bros is an easy game when you're an adult but my 8 year old son can't finish it at all. So, I say, level of difficulty is different for everyone. What is difficult for you may not be difficult for others and vice versa.

There are games that really are so easy. But I believe hate there shouldn't be a very easy game for you. You should level up change the difficulty of it. The best option is you should change your game.

I think it depends on the person that is playing the game .There are some games that is easy for other people but not for me. There are also some games that is easy for me but not for other people.

It sucks because I can't even remember if I finished an easy game because I easily stop and switch over to a harder and challenging one. :ROFLMAO:

I think my cousins who are veterans in playing Super Mario games can finish it even less than an hour. I really admire their prowess in playing this game.

I remembered playing the game Farmville. It was a very easy and fun game for me.

I used to play with Super Mario games in my younger days. It was always a kiosk between me and my cousins but I have fun memory with it. I think classifying a game whether difficult or easy will depend on the gamer. We all know that games is designed to challenge us mentally. It depends on the gamer how he will cope with the challenges.

I think the level of difficulty varies depending on the genre as well as the targeted audience and playerbase, but i do agree find that some games can be a tad bit easy

I think easy games like plants versus zombies are games played even by my nephew. My nephew is just 5 years old yet he knows how to play it.

Exactly, there are some games that are too easy to make any sense to me why the programmers designed the game in such manner.

There is one android mobile game called 300 Sparta, it's by far the most easiest video game I have ever played and I never cared to replay it again because it's too cheap to waste my time on it.

Yes. I think that some games are too easy and the programmers were just after money. Instead of wasting your time on such games, it would be ideal to invest in a worthwhile game which will challenge you and at the same time fine tune your cognitive abilities.

Easy games are not worth playing for any reason whatsoever, at least not for great gamers who look at facing good challenges with the game they are playing.

When it's too easy to play and win, what's the fun in the game? Absolutely nothing.

Most offline games are easy and played by kids. And also I think it depends on the person's desire and capability. But for me, I prefer to play games that has challenges and pays real money.

Exactly! I completely agree with you on this about stating that most offline games are pretty easy to play and compete. It's practically designed that way to encourage people to play it.

For me playing games nowadays are much more easier through, because of the help they could easily find in the internet. You could easily search how to beat a game, there are tutorial and tips that can be learn. Especially there is YouTube, it offers you a lot of when you need help, like if there is a game level that you can't progress to, just search for the game and there will be many videos for you that you can watch and learn how to progress on that game.

It actually depends on the level of technology. I remember in the late 80s when a floppy disk would only have a pingpong type of game and that was it. Then I remember playing tetris next in black and white. Pacman was more sophisticated and then you had the early races f1. Now these games are classified as vintage but without them there wouldn't have been the more sophisticated or difficult games of today.

I think this question has a very complex answer because everything will depend on the context. Each player has a differentiated perception about what is or is not difficult in relation to each game.

At the the end, if I say that one game is easy and another player says that the same is difficult... This only shows that we have two different realities (no right or wrong here, only two different points of view).

In my opinion, the new games coming out these days are easier compared to how games were made years before. I think this is because they focus more on how good a game would look rather than how challenging it would be to play. They also seem to focus more on microtransactions which can get really annoying.

Some games can be more difficult if you play secret level or get extra points. Donkey Kong is that way. However, it's pretty tough - even without that stuff.

Ahem to that. Sort of wish more people would learn for that quote.
Haha! They are definitely going to be learning that knowingly or unknowingly once they realize that they simply can't have it all, they would know it's not for them in that particular game.

There are a couple of factors involved. For example, target users for the game and the player. If the game is aimed at adults, it might be complicated to solve for the kids, and the adults might easily excel the game meant for the kids.

People are challenged by different things. I can play an RTS all day, but hand me a shooter and I’m pretty dang useless. Some games are easy, but it’s important for people to have a place to start. Sure I could crush Super Mario Brothers today, but I was a little kid when it came out. Gaming back then was more like toy marketing and made for kids.

I think lot of times the game developers just want to put the game in the market. And they don't want to bring anything new to the table. They are kind of learning from success story of another game and they want to compete in same space. Like there are many angry birds clones after learning the original developers who made money. So that's why games are not new these days in concept and often easy.

easy games are too boring to play .. they don't have any excitement and adventurous. It's looks like just wasting your time without proper achievement of the game.

I used to play with plants versus zombies and it kills my time. I am well entertained with that game and I like to listen on the zombies voices especially when it says "brains". ( Ha.Ha.Ha ) It's funny and it drives me crazy. It's a survival game and you need to know every strategies to defeat the zombies. Each level signifies endurance of techniques and entertainment. It keeps my mind active and alert.

Can I say a joke and claim that Dark Souls were easy? Honestly, the recent easiest game for me was RE2 Remake. And I played it on the hardcore version.

Yes. There are so many lately and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed and feel bad about.
A game which isn't challenging at all, isn't fun.
For instance, Call Of Duty: Black Opps III which has a realistic difficult mode for camping in whereby one bullet-shot counts as death. Anyway, some gamers do prefer titles with higher learning curves that force players to think more strategically, whereas some others will just want to speedrun every game at the lowest difficulty. Both are fine – everybody is entitled to their own preferences.
I'd propose gamers who would want to try on easy games to try Batman, The Witcher 3, NFS Underground, the old Hitman game -Blood Money.

Yes, some are quite easy indeed. I have to agree with Alania, I didn't play RE2 remaster, but saw others do it, and boy it was easy.

Some games are made to be easy to play because it is for kids. Example of these games are tetris, plants vs zombies, sims, etc. But now the new games are commonly made to play by at least teenagers

True. Some kids can't cope with too complications in some high level games. They need something that is within there brain level of processing capacity.

Not necessary. Return to Castle Wolfestein had one game which was pretty difficult. And then new games on that franchise are not easy either. Most of the offline games can be hard as the multiplayer games. I personally have preferred those campaign based gameplay. And I found many of them pretty difficult.
