State of Decay 2 is the sequel to Undead Lab's zombie survival game from 2013. When it came to guarding against and defeating the zombie horde, the sequel improved on the original with more in-depth mechanics and a greater range of options at the player's disposal.
Going into State of Decay 2 blind will almost certainly result in a lot of fatalities and wasted opportunities, since the game is difficult to master, with hard-hitting opponent types that will catch players off guard if they aren't prepared. There's also a slew of other factors to consider, such as resources, community morale, plague hearts, and other survivor camps that might become allies or foes.
1. Stay In Stealth Mode
Players may be tempted to jump right in and start smashing in zombie heads with the large array of weapons and explosives available in State of Decay 2, but a slower, more methodical approach will conserve ammo and lives. Because stealth is such an important talent to master, players should learn how to use it as soon as feasible.
While doing tasks while sneaking about may take longer, it can ensure safe transit in and out of an area. Players should only conduct a brief search if zombies are approaching them, and they should avoid destroying any windows or knocking down doors if at all possible. If a building is full with zeds and stealth isn't an option, use a vehicle horn to entice them all out, then sneak in once the coast is clear.
2. Look After Your Cars
Cars are a vital asset in State of Decay 2 since they may be utilised for storage, diverting hordes, and killing zombies in addition to travelling the area quickly. They are, however, uncommon, especially when playing on higher levels, with just one or two each town.
It's tempting to slam your automobile into a swarm of zombies, but gamers should avoid doing so until they upgrade their vehicle. Because groups of zombies, particularly specific zombie varieties, may swiftly render automobiles worthless by tearing off doors, coating them with noxious fumes, or blowing them up if they receive enough strikes.
3. Use The Instant Kill Move
Because stamina is so important in State of Decay 2, learning how to utilise as little as possible while yet optimising lethality can come in handy when fighting hordes. The quick kill manoeuvre is the most consistent technique to kill zombies.
Players will have the opportunity to execute zeds while they are in a vulnerable situation, such as getting hit many times or being attacked from behind. This consumes a significant amount of stamina, but it assures that the zed will not rise again. Dodging past a zed and executing it from behind is a great method to fully utilise this skill. This will avoid the player from having to use additional stamina by continually striking it.
4. Know Where The Resources Are
Each area in State of Decay 2 has hundreds of structures, thus getting through them all will take a long time, time that players won't have before their base is invaded by swarms of zeds. In that scenario, knowing where to hunt for specific items comes in helpful.
Food is the most accessible resource, as it can be found practically anywhere. Medicine may be found in clinics and some bathroom cupboards in private residences, whereas fuel can be found in petrol stations, garages, and industrial buildings. Materials are more difficult to get by and are in short supply, although they are likely to materialise on building sites and in warehouses. Ammo is another difficult supply to locate, but military outposts, gun stores, and police stations are the best locations to look.
5. Claim All Outposts
Outposts are available in all structures, and each one provides a unique resource to the players' community. It's difficult to decide which outposts to claim because players may only have a certain number of outposts and every resource is important for life.
There is no right or wrong answer as to which outposts are the greatest because it depends on how the game is played and what each player values the most. Some may choose to establish larger outposts with vast inhabitants, in which case food, power, and water will be critical to maintaining morale. Medicine and fuel, on the other hand, are more beneficial for specific buildings, and an ammunition outpost will be more valuable than a safe house or food outpost if a player decides to have a facility like the watchtower.
6. Take Out The Plague Hearts
The most difficult part of State of Decay 2 is Plague Hearts. Multiple hearts are distributed over every map in the open world, each of which spans a set radius and causes plague zombies to spawn in that region, infecting the player with blood plague. Taking out the plague hearts will not only reward the player with uncommon goodies, but it will also make exploring the region safer.
The hearts will not be defeated without tremendous weaponry, and hitting one would result in dozens of zeds pouring through every door in an attempt to defend it. Players should pack lots of consumables like medications and food, as well as a strong pistol and melee weapon, as well as a vehicle in case things go out of hand. Bombs, notably Molotov and Bloater gas grenades, decoys such as pyrotechnics, and finally, don't bring a companion because they're more likely to get murdered than help out.
7. Enclaves Are Not Worth The Effort
State of Decay 2's Enclaves will constantly issue missions and request assistance, and while they may be traded with and grant rewards after being assisted enough times, the advantages are rarely worth the effort. Scavenging typically yields the benefits, and traders will arrive on the map frequently enough, usually with better gear.
The only true reason to befriend and assist enclaves is to earn the opportunity to recruit one of their survivors, which is the quickest method to grow a community. Hostile enclaves, on the other hand, should be avoided because they are very deadly and will swiftly eliminate a player. Attracting zeds to their position is an excellent approach for hostile enclaves, as they will either kill them or offer enough of a diversion for the player to come near and finish it themselves.
