  • Almost one in six (15%) young gamers had taken money from their parents without their permission to buy loots boxes;
  • One in ten (11%) had used their parents’ credit or debit card to fund their loot box purchases;
  • One in ten (9%) had borrowed money they couldn’t repay to spend on loot boxes;
  • Three young gamers’ loot box buying habits resulted in their families having to re-mortgage their homes to cover the costs.

The fact that people had to re-mortgage their houses to cover the costs of loot boxes is crazy. Do they not keep an eye on their kids lol?

Parents will forget to lock away their payment schemes, and children with addiction will find a way. It's the gambling being in anything under Adult ratings that's the problem.

It's concerning to hear about young adults getting into debt from buying loot boxes. Parents can sometimes forget to secure their payment methods, and it's unfortunate that some children with addiction find a way to access them. The issue lies in the presence of gambling elements in games rated for audiences under 18. It's crucial for regulators and game developers to address this problem to protect young players and their families.
